1. Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Sugar Cookies Recipe

2. Sugar Cookies

Perfect for decorating or enjoying plain.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, if using.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
  6. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.

  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and 1 cup of sugar until fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and cinamon.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Coat them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Place on baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are set and center are soft.

Pro Tips for Perfect Cookies

  • Room temperature ingredients: Use room temperature butter and eggs for even mixing.
  • Don’t Overmix. Overmixing makes cookies dense. Mix until just combined.
  • Chill the dough: Chill your dough for 30 minutes. It helps cookies spread less and bake evenly.
  • Use parchment paper: Line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking
